What OpenHall keeps
- Questions and answers. Kept without names so the guide can be improved and so the City gets a monthly report of what people asked. The connection is recorded only as a scrambled code used to apply the daily question limit. It can’t be turned back into an address.
- Notes to a department. If you choose to send one, it includes the name, email or phone number you type in so staff can reply. Those contact details are removed automatically after 12 months.
- Lot report addresses. The address you ask about, so the report can be made and counted.
What it doesn’t do
- No accounts, no tracking cookies, no advertising, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
- Answers come only from the City’s published pages and corrections made by City staff.
Where it’s handled
- OpenHall runs on a DigitalOcean server in San Francisco, USA.
- To write an answer, your question and the matching City pages are sent to Anthropic’s Claude service in the USA. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, questions sent this way aren’t used to train its models.
- Lot reports are made by LotSimple, run by the same team.
Please don’t type private details such as account numbers or health information into a question. Use a note to the department instead, or call the City.
Your choices
To have a note you sent removed sooner, or to ask what’s held about you, email chris@openhall.ca with the note number.
